If you are looking for a highly effective yet low cost way to promote your internet marketing business then look no further than blogging. Blogs are an easy low cost way to market your skills, make money, generate leads and promote your website/products then take a serious look at blogging.

What’s so great about blogs? Let me paint a picture for you.

1. Blogs can be set up without needing a financial outlay. Just visit wordpress.org or blogger.com and you can be up and running in the next 5 minutes

2. Search engines love blogs. Why? They provide a constant flow of information so they are indexed quickly, which means your business (or affiliate post) gets into the search engines ready to meet an eager buyer.

3. Blogs are becoming more like websites every day and you can look just as professional as any business.

4. Blog posts are fairly short so if you don’t want to write articles, the thought of an ebook fills you with dread then blogging is an easy alternative

5. You can promote your affiliate products by writing a review

This easy to use, easy to run and cheap marketing tool can be all you need to start making money online every day if you focus your efforts on developing an optimized keyword rich blog.

No expensive software needed, no technical knowledge, you don’t even need your own hosting and domain name (although I recommend you get yourself at least that much).

It’s the easiest, cheapest, most efficient plug-n-profit online business you can start for yourself.

If you already have a blog that is not making you much money remember you don’t have to stick to just one, at last count I run over 10 and in an internet marketing seminar that Armand Morin was speaking at he mentioned that he has 9,000! So look at improving your blog or start new ones.

When setting up your first blog your option is to join a site like blogger.com or wordpress.org and use their system to run your blog

Get yourself hosting, a domain and run your own

Or

Attach your blog to your website so that it runs as

http://www.yourwebsite.com/blog

Again there are pros and cons to all of these and people have their preferences, there is also nothing wrong with you running one using all 3 methods and tracking to see which one brings you the best results.

The best option recommended by experts right now (I say right now because today experts may recommend doing something a new way and tomorrow they recommend doing it the old way!) is to host a blog on your domain as part of your website.

One of the reasons for this is because the search engines will see it as additional pages to your site if you use a sub-directory to place your blog into – example of a sub-directory is http://www.yourwebsite.com/sub-directory

When you create this folder (use one of your keywords when creating it) and then use a keyword for the name of your blog you are setting yourself up to be picked up very quickly by the search engines.

Plus if anyone clicks on your blog it counts as a click for your website too so it’s a great way to raise both blog and website in one go.

Blogging is a highly effective, relatively cheap marketing tool that can help you at its simplest form to attract readers to your information and your website and at its best can provide you with an ongoing income from affiliate sales, and/or selling your own products.

The 5 Information Product Creation Mistakes I Made As an Internet Marketing Newbie That You MUST Avoid

As an internet marketing newbie I found that creating information products was an easy thing for me to do. I loved writing so I knew writing it would be easy. What I found was putting together an information product that makes you money and has the potential to turn viral takes more than just writing.

After looking back at what I could have done differently I realized that there were 5 mistakes I made as an internet marketing newbie whilst creating free viral information products that you can avoid.

So let’s get started shall we. First of all don’t do this…

Internet Marketing Newbie Mistake # 1:  Creating information products without links to a product/website

It was one of my earlier mistakes. I created free viral information products but didn’t include an affiliate product that had the potential to make me money.

At the very least you should include your bio that links to your website(s) and or product(s).  An even better approach is to promote a product that will help with what you have just talked about.

Your free information product will be out on the internet for years to come and you want to make sure you get the best out of it so if you don’t have your own products then include links to affiliate products.
Internet Marketing Newbie Mistake #2: Including links I had no control over. 

Always make sure you use a redirect link that directs the potential customer from the link in your information product to the actual website promoting the product.
Re-direct links are easy to control from your own web server.  Using a redirect link means you redirect visitors from your link to your assigned affiliate link. This is important so you can CHANGE the link anytime you want to in the future. 

If you stick to using your designated affiliate link and then stop using the product or the company your links become unusable and eventually obsolete.  Do you really want free viral information products out there on the net with dead links?
With a redirect link you can very easily adjust the target page and send the traffic to a different service, or web page because you have full control and can change the link from your site.
So, never include a link to a product that you have no control over.  Always use redirect links.

Internet Marketing Newbie Mistake # 3: Using specific information that may eventually be out of date.
Remember you are sending out free viral information products that will be around the internet for a long time (hopefully) so adding a link to buy within a few weeks or because you are having a sale is a big mistake.  If you send out a free viral information product that says “buy for the next 2 weeks for only $9.97″ in 2005 and someone reads that in 2008 you will open yourself up to being accused of deception or worse.
This is a common internet marketing mistake made by newbies when they start distributing their free viral information products.
Internet Marketing Newbie Mistake # 4: Including Personal Details In A Free Viral Information Product
I-CANN Spam laws dictate that you must have your contact details on your website, but avoid including personal information like your cell phone number in your free viral information products. Again things change and you don’t want old information being passed around. You also don’t want to be receiving phone calls at 3am your time because someone else in another country has dis-regarded time zones!  So never put anything into your free viral information product that you don’t want the world to know and use.
Internet Marketing Newbie Mistake # 5: Not Checking links, spelling and grammar in my free viral information product 

It is important you check your information product for grammatical errors and typing mistakes, but just as important is making sure that the links inside your product go to the right place, and that they are all working.
Imagine sending out a viral information product only to discover 3 months later that one of the website links are incorrect or has a comma (,com) instead of a full stop (.com)
Ask a friend or colleague to check your information product and test the links for you because whilst you may not be able to see a mistake someone else might.
I know I have said this a few times but it is worth repeating. Once your product is out floating through the information highway there is no recalling it!  So check, then check, then check again.

If you are looking to build your list then free viral information products are fantastic tools to help you do that but you want to ensure that everything works from the get go.

Learning from your mistakes is a great tool but it’s so much better when there is someone available to let you know what to avoid! So learn from my mistakes instead because history doesn’t need to repeat itself on this one.

If You Want To Succeed In Internet Marketing Learn With The Experts

If you want to succeed in internet marketing taking on a mentor should be a serious consideration.  When it comes to making money online the fastest way to get yourself over the initial learning curve, is to join a coaching or mentoring program that will provide you with the tools that you need to ensure your success.

Unfortunately, all the internet “experts” that talk about being able to offer you the best coaching package online are not always able to deliver on their promises.  Being able to create success for yourself is one thing, but being able to replicate the materials that will show others how to create that success is an entirely different thing.

In the last 12 months a number of “learn internet marketing” coaching opportunities have appeared online and are being run by people who are not trained life coaches, mentors or teachers.  They have the belief that their success somehow qualifies them to begin teaching someone else how to do it too.  But learning success from a book or being inspired by the success story of someone, and actually being able to motivate and inspire an adult to learn something you are teaching is very different.

One of the first mentoring programs I embarked upon was with an experienced internet marketing company who charged over $6,000 and yet 6 months later, despite the promises and glossy paperwork that showed the 6 figure sums their past participants were all making, I had nothing to show for it (well not entirely true, I had acquired a lot of new found knowledge but still nothing to sell and I made no money).  One of the things missing was the fact that I had no product, or any idea about what I wanted to do online, and despite being told that didn’t really matter, it actually did in the end.

My second coaching program with an experienced internet marketer proved to be more rewarding. The opportunity to connect with other people plus learn from some of the best internet marketing experts out there (I guess when you are well known you can pull in all your well known friends to help you out!) made a huge difference.  This is still an ongoing program and taught me a lot about how to make money online but still lacked the structure needed to teach a complete business system.  I was looking to build a business structure not just earn some money.

So when the opportunity arose to take part in a coaching program that was run by the very Life Coach who taught these internet marketing experts I jumped at the chance.  Being quite clear that investing in this high end coaching program was an investment in the future of my business. I also understood that the only way to experience success is to learn from those who have already experienced success in that area – (well actually it’s not the only way, you could learn from making your own mistakes and take twice as long to experience results!).  Plus, the added bonus was being coached by a qualified life coach, which for me only added to the excitement of joining.

What I was looking for was a way to build the internet structure that would run my business, not just make a few thousand dollars a month, but actually build a large company that is run by other people so I can spend my time travelling the world attending internet marketing events and bringing back what I had learnt to my team!

Many people are promised the dream of sitting on the beach while money pours into their bank account, and whilst this is possible, what they neglect to mention is the fact that it takes years to achieve, and even after achieving it you are still tied to a business that needs constant attention.  Talk to any “overnight success” and they will paint the real picture for you of what it took to get them to that point. The more realistic dream is to look at building a business that is put together so that each part of your business adds value and revenue to your profit margin. 

But joining these coaching programs is about so much more than just learning how to build a business, ultimately your success will depend on who you know, not what you know.  You can have the best product in the world but if no one can find it then you will not be making many sales. 

When you join an exclusive coaching program you will usually get access to the expert running it (if it is a decent program). They will want you to be one of their success stories so will go out of their way to help you.  When you have a successful internet marketer promoting your product (if they offer that service) then people are more likely to take notice of you.  You have invested in them by buying their services so they are more likely to invest their time in you by supporting you in whatever way possible.

It is important that when considering who you will be learning from you take a good look at what you will be taught and how.  Forget promises on a web page, and instead focus on :

Can I actually interact with the person who is running the program?

Is it possible to earn revenue from referring the program to others? 

What is the vision for all the members of this coaching program? 

Are there joint venture opportunities available with other members?

What guarantees do they offer? 

Do they offer the opportunity to promote your product?

Who have they successfully worked with in the past?

What resources are made available to you?

How much time commitment do you have to make to the program?

How quickly can you expect to see results if you consistently follow their program?

Are they dedicating all their time to teaching their clients or are they focused on other things?

 

All of these are important questions to consider when investing in a high end coaching program if you want to ensure your investment helps you create the profitable business you desire.

Standing on the shoulders of giants, learning from the experienced internet marketing experts who have successfully and consistently made their living online is an amazing experience.  It saves you time, energy and money because you will not waste precious time (sometimes years) on working on something that doesn’t bring results.  I highly recommend you invest in yourself and your business if you are serious about building a lifestyle that includes a profitable business.
