What’s my life purpose?

With all the “busy-ness” of life and the work I do online I keep putting aside the one thing I believe I am here to work on when I ask myself the question What’s my life purpose?

For years I have written in the personal development field never really with an outcome to make money – just because I love sharing what I have learnt over the last 18 years.  Over the last few weeks I have been helping to guide a fairly new blogger towards discovering what they want to blog about and in the process it reminded me of my purpose too.

It is that old struggle of money versus passion/purpose and trusting that when you follow passion your life will end up the way you want it to be. The problem is if we start off concerned about money all we do is put our concern about having no money into our future which then brings us what we are thinking about – no money.

I experienced that during the recession. In 2008 I lost 3 big contracts and was left with very little work – my concern (and I really should know better) focused on having no contracts and no money coming in – it was only when I realized what I was doing that I stopped and reversed the trend. It took a little while but now in my future is only more work and an abundantly rich life (that is spirtually as well as financially rich).

What’s my life purpose? To share inspirational guidance with the world. To raise self confidence in women and to help them experience the altogether fabulous people that they really are leaving them free to embrace happiness and peace.

What’s your life purpose, are you living it? And if you are not, why not?

Because it’s never too late to start

My focus on self confidence has led me down an interesting path lately that I am happy to follow. Since 2008 I have been writing and talking about publishing a book that I have just never gotten round to finishing.

Focusing on reconnecting to a passion we once had but that is still unfulfilled I even ran a workshop October last year. Despite letting other work matters get in the way (I focus more on helping people use the internet to promote their business) I keep getting drawn back to the idea – which I believe happens when God has a plan for you that you are not following!

In the space of the last few days I have reconnected with the idea  and watching Hayley’s video yesterday seemed to spark something in me to revisit it with a new title. I fell in love with the idea all over again and became excited by the thought of writing it.  I will share more soon but I am definitely going for it now….. DEFINITELY!

  • I am currently on a 12 week program that focuses on how to launch a product – so am using that time to focus my attention on how to promote it
  • I have been invited to speak by two women, one in Australia and one here in the UK and both will give me an opportunity to focus on talking about the book
  • Being told by someone how at ease I look with myself reminded me that this is something I can share with other women
  • Hayley’s video – not sure what it was but watching it sparked a desire to start writing this book again

So I am going to commit to making this work. I have been speaking to women and need to go out on the High Street with clipboard in hand to do some market research, which I will do tomorrow (Sunday)

Today I found out about Lorna Page, a woman who published her first book in 2008 called “A Dangerous Weakness” at the age of 93! She uses the proceeds to pay for the house she lives in with friends, it is her way of helping her friends out of care homes and into a more welcome space.

You can read the story here on the Telegraph

I found the book on Amazon and while the reviews aren’t great I am a sucker for a good cause and would buy it anyway because her ambition to help people get out of care homes is a great one – although to be honest why our elder generation can’t be treated better I really don’t know.

As far as I am concerned Lorna has done something many people never get round to doing – she achieved something she set out to achieve. That’s more than enough for me to make her a hit.

Self confidence and feeling absolutely fabulous

Yesterday at a networking event (my first one for 5 years!) someone remarked on how at ease I am with myself. I know that self confidence and feeling absolutely fabulous go hand in hand eventually. At some point something happens and you just naturally give off this vibe with being okay with who you are. I wish I could put a timescale on it or tell you when you will know – well actually I can tell you when you will know – because people will mention it. The need to be around you, talk to you, connect to you, a love of listening to your voice or just generally loving your “vibe!”

It is not something you can fake and to be honest it isn’t even something I can articulate that well. My spiritual coach will tell me it is because I am connected to my soul. When you are connected to that higher part of you there is something that makes you different.

Anyway, I just can’t seem to explain it so if you read this and have a suggestion on what it is I am talking about I would love to hear how it manifests for you. Maybe it is different for us all. What I do know is that I don’t know I am doing it (whatever IT is) and that it connects me to people in a way that is beyond the superficial and I love it :)

I have a video here from a virtual friend who I love dearly called Hayley Solich to remind you about how absolutely fabulous you are and if self confidence and feeling absolutely fabulous is something you want for yourself I recommend starting with Guy Finley – he can show you how to connect to your highest, most fabulous self!
