One of the ways that many people finally decide to work towards fulfilling their dream is when they are made redundant. For many (particular over 40s) it is a time when it may be difficult to get a new job because of age, or the kids are older and the dream they gave up becomes an opportunity. I have read and heard so many stories of people who were made redundant and used that time to work towards achieving their dream and successfully doing it!
For many the financial package they receive as a result of being made redundant acts like a cushion to help out while they get started and it is usually this package and the thought of not wanting to start again in the same job (usually that they are not that in love with anyway) is the fuel towards pushing them to finally do what they have always dreamt about.
