I have been writing in a journal for years. It not only helps me keep focused and reminds me of how far I come but my personal journal is also a fantastic personal history that I use now to provide me with ideas of what to write about on this blog.
Do you write a journal? In my eBook Feel and Rebuild Self-Confidence I recommend that everything is written down because of the healing effect that it is has – getting something out of your head and onto paper – also because a journal can play a significant part in helping you learn more about yourself. Socrates said “know thyself.” A journal can provide you with self-awareness and help you work through any limits you may have put in place in your life.
When you get into a regular habit writing in your journal becomes a healing process, one that is as natural as brushing your teeth every morning before leaving the house. It becomes something to look forward to and enjoy as you express your thoughts.
Keeping a personal journal will put you in control of your life because it gives you a clear insight into where you are going and where you have come from, giving you an opportunity to change your path if you don’t like what you see. We become conscious creators rather than living unconsciously believing that what you have is all you will ever have.
Your journal will help you discover what’s important to you in life, identify your goals, focus on what you want to experience in life, and work towards what’s important to you.
With a journal you get to record the moments of your personal history that are most important to you. Your first kiss, the passion of starting a new relationship, the excitement at getting married, the disappointment at getting divorced! The birth of your first child. Had a bad day or are feeling low? Just open your journal and turn to that funny event that happened at the family barbecue and laugh out loud as you read it again. Priceless.
I have written a free eBook on the importance of keeping a personal journal that I have made available on this blog. I am doing my best to add all my free eBooks and personal development resources on this blog. The other blogs have been separated into
How to write affirmations
Deep breathing meditation
