When you refuse to allow the negative emotions of others entry you will soon find yourself unaffected by anything a person says/does – you will let them continue with their current mood/attitude, you may even make an attempt to pick them up but when they walk away you will be left feeling as happy as you were before they arrived.

How do you make that happen for yourself? Well, as Dr Dyer said, you just don’t let them in!

It’s not me…. It’s Them!

It is easy to live in a world where you believe your feelings are controlled by some one else.

“Peter makes me so mad”

“Donna always embarrasses me”

“Mark annoys me because he won’t do as I say”

What you have to remember in every instance is that no one has the power to do anything TO you but YOU can allow them to affect your mood. When you really understand that you will have a major shift in the way that you think and behave because suddenly you will have complete awareness to the fact that you are in charge of you!

The way that you view how people affect you will change to….

“I allow what Peter does to make me so mad”

“I allow what Donna says to embarrass me”

“I let the fact that Mark won’t do as I say annoy me”

Taking Responsibility For Your Own Moods!

When you move responsibility onto yourself you will gain a sense of personal power because you now accept that if you allow it to happen then you can choose to not allow it to happen and with choice comes power!

Are you going to allow what Peter does to make you mad? The choice is yours, you can still get mad at whatever it is he is doing but you are now aware of the fact that you are choosing to get mad and stay mad. That anger is all your choice.

Now let’s tackle Donna. What has she said this time? Why are her words embarrassing you? You can look at what it is that Donna says and what it triggers inside you. When you find the trigger the words have less effect. Even if you never find the trigger all you really need to do is tell yourself that if you are embarrassed then it’s down to you – because you are choosing to be that way. What would happen if you choose to make what Donna says make you laugh instead?

Even the mild annoyance you feel when Mark won’t do as he is told is NOT down to Mark, he is just busy doing whatever it is he is doing (or not doing in this case) and that annoys you.

Everything that everyone does and your reaction to it is a choice made by you

You take back your power when you learn to rid yourself of the belief that other people have any control over your emotions. In fact if anyone ever asks you “what’s the matter, am I annoying you?” you can let them know that nothing they do can annoy you without your permission.

No one has power over your emotions unless you choose to let them in!

A strong position to be in is the ability to decide what you let in and what you keep out. When someone approaches you and they are happy, uplifted, expressing love, then of course you want to choose to let that in and allow their mood to affect you! There is nothing more wonderful than sharing energy with someone who is happy because when both of you are happy you are able to lift each other and anyone around you.

Your inner self can never be destroyed unless you let it. This is how people survived slavery and concentration camps, because they realised that they had complete control over the way they thought and reacted to their cirumstances, they understood that no one could take over their mind no matter how much control they had over their body.

What you need to make this work for you is awareness, acceptance and choice. All of these things are available to you right now in this moment, you do not need to go off and read a book, listen to an audio or attend a seminar, you just need to be aware how the actions of a certain person makes you feel, you accept that this negative feeling is something you are choosing to feel and you make a choice to not let it in. If you do let it in then you accept that this was your choice.

“Let no one enter your inner kingdom unless they come with love”

Why do so many people dislike the fact that I give money to my church and my Pastor when they go into a shop and buy ciggarettes or stand in a bar and drink alcohol?

Why is it mainly non-believers who don’t believe in giving money to church and who believe it’s a way to get money out of weak people?

Why aren’t motivational events that uplift you for a few hours and then have you return to your old state of worry and fear a rip off?

Why is it that NOTHING has come close to providing me with the peace, joy and serenity I feel since finding my church GoodNews Ministries and yet to suggest that I give them 10% of everything I earn is met with complete shock?

When are we going to realise that giving is about giving from the heart? Have you ever bought something for someone you love just because you love them and you knew they would love it?Well I give because I know Jesus loves it.

My Pastor can’t do anything if I buy him a cow or a chicken – the old days of tithing. Money is the easiest thing to tithe plus it helps the church to function and I have even been encouraged to tithe my time and smiles (yes you can tithe smiles too ) so it’s not always about money but to keep supporting my spiritual development my church needs help.

I wanted to take you on a brief journey of how I got to know God and how it relates to me sitting and writing this today….. bear with me for a few minutes because all will be revealed at the end!

It’s been a long journey finally accepting God in my life and I guess looking back it’s a testimony to just how patient He is! In 2000 I decided to start a new business and I wondered what to call it. Sitting there on my bed the name “Inspirational Guidance” was given to me and I loved it. At that time I didn’t put the fact that I was “given” the name down to God but now I know in my heart it was. When my friends heard the name alot of them said it sounded “religious” or “something to do with God” and I never saw it that way (because if I had I would have never used it) and kept it.

Then two years ago God sent a man to talk to me about Him through a business networking group and when the man asked me “Do you believe that Jesus died for our sins” I said I didn’t and he never contacted me again. I decided if that is what being a Christian is about I will leave it thank you!

All the time I was searching for something and thought I would find it in things and people but it just wasn’t working.

At the beginning of this year 2008 I had a good friend who kept inviting me to church but I just didn’t want to go. In fact the thought of going to church filled me with physical dread. I was literally scared about walking into a church! She kept asking and I kept saying I will but never made it.

Then around April this year my inner voice asked me “Do you think you are doing what you are here to do?” – at the time I was working towards financial success (and making a complete mess of it) and during meditation it was revealed to me that I had forgotten my spiritual beliefs and needed to come back to them. I made a promise to the universe that I would do what ever I was told to (because thats what you do when you’re in trouble…. ). I always believed in a higher power just never associated it to God. I believed mainly in the angels and using them.

In June this year I was given my first bible (well my second… I bought one years ago and then got rid of it) and the women who handed it to me told me that God had a plan for me that will be revealed. At the time I smiled nicely and thanked her for the gift. She encouraged me to go home and just talk out loud to God…. which I must say I still have not been able to achieve yet!  Not sure why I find it so difficult but for now I do. I found myself really wanting to know more and asking her alot of questions. I was ready to look into who God was for me.

Around the same time I decided I was too fabulous be to single and joined a dating site.

In August 2008 someone handed me a postcard about an event. I looked at it ….. saw church and ignored it. At the bus stop my inner voice was loud in my ear telling me to look down at what I had been handed. It was a weekend event at a church and I decided to go. I have been attending twice a week ever since (I’ve missed a few but not many). A few weeks after being introduced to Jesus Christ I also meet a man through the dating site and suddenly my feeling of something missing disappeared and I felt fulfillment but I could never work out was it God or the man because they both came along at the same time.

Well four months later the man is no longer in my life and I am still feeling fulfilled and full of joy. Nothing that is happening in my life is able to affect me because I have faith and a wonderful feeling of serenity. I have been reading my bible and learning about God’s laws. If you look at when I started writing about my journey on this blog I complain about the law of “no sex before marriage” and yet now I am willing to accept that – not because I have been told to but because I have a love for God that makes me want to. Its a personal choice.

When I prayed I felt nothing and now I pray with reverence knowing I am in the presence of the Almighty but also with a true feeling of love in my heart for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

And now I come full circle and have decided to dedicate more of Inspirational Guidance towards knowing, learning about and loving God. Not that I am any kind of expert. I can only teach what I learn myself and by sharing it my aim is to connect with others who believe and perhaps plant a seed in those who are searching.

Even in these few short months I have learnt and experienced the power of God within me and it would be wrong of me not to share that with you. This is NOT about religion but about a relationship. It’s also not about “hell fire” preaching telling you that you will go to hell unless you believe in Jesus.  It’s about experiencing the love, joy and peace that fills deep within you when you have the guided by the Holy spirit.

I don’t believe I have any answers for you right now but I do believe I can be used as a link to bring you towards wanting to know more. It was by accepting Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that teachings have now been made available to me to raising my awareness.  Church has been a place to be uplifted from praising Him and listening to the Pastor (who’s excellent). I also love the sense of love and community I have experienced from attending but ultimately most of what I have learnt has come because I ask God for wisdom and guidance.

I have now made the decision that in 2009 my blogging will become more God focused.

At first I worried about how my current readers will react because after all many of you are here to read about personal development but even the areas I write in likeknowing yourself, “Discovering Greatness” and finding passion and purpose I understand that without God they will never truly be fulfilled.

For those who receive this via email of course you are free to unsubscribe (the link is at the end) so you no longer hear from me because as I end 2008 and begin 2009 my faith in and love of God compels me to share it online and as always I will share honestly, using examples from my life and with no other intent but to support the discovery of your greatness.

This morning during prayer I asked for forgiveness about the fact that I had put being worried about upsetting my readers before God. I still have no idea what the future holds and where this journey is taking me but I have complete faith in God’s vision for my life and whatever will happen next.

Our journey is to allow our life to be so heavily influenced by our higher self that we live out our full potential but the reality is that the majority of us live listening to the voice of our lower self.

I don’t believe we need to get rid of our lower self because that would be to forget who we are and would not allow us to become whole and complete. Instead we have to learn how to work with, worth through, move past that lower self and into our higher self way of thinking to experience true masterary.

One of my biggest lower self activities that I take part in is to worry and doubt. It’s easy for me to drag myself into worry and doubt until the people around me remind me of what I am doing and I move myself into self-belief and trust/faith (which is why it is so very important to have a circle of friends that empower you.)  Its never my aim to get rid of anything but to observe it, become aware of it and work through it.

I am still “painfully shy” – it’s a childhood thing. I live life inside of myself and even when I am enjoying myself it will happen internally and you will never know.  I had to become aware of that and choose firstly to drop the shy label and talk to people and secondly to remember to share what’s going on inside with people around me.  Triggers for me are when people say “you’re quiet are you alright?” or if I am with someone who doesn’t believe I am having a good time (which happens alot with men I just meet!!!) Once they understand that me going internal means I am actually having ALOT of fun they don’t worry so much

To meet me now you would never believe that I am “painfully shy” because that part of me just isn’t that alive anymore. I learnt how to talk even when I felt shy. I learnt how to raise my voice to hold a conversation and then to speak to a room full of people even when i was shaking like a leaf….

I learnt to work around, work with and work through my shyness so that I could end up where I am today.  I refused to let my lower self keep me in a position of being scared of people and I did something about it. Are you ready to do something about it?

I often refer to myself as insecure with moments of brilliance for that very reason.

Once you begin to grow your awareness of what your lower self does and says to keep you stuck you will find your life transforming into what you want it to become.  If you think you are ugly and you change that conversation you will see the beauty that exists within you and also in your features/face.  If you think you are hopeless and your lower self keeps you in that conversation you will soon be able to see just how amazing you are as you achieve things, get things done and work through whatever keeps you limited.

The biggest gift I gave myself was to give up calling this divine part of myself my Higher Self and begin to recognize it as God.  This divine energy that surrounds us like the air we breath is available for us at all times all we have to do is choose it. Access to God is available by believing in His son Jesus Christ.  But hey… if that’s all a little heavy for you don’t worry. Continue with Higher Self because remember that’s my journey and not yours.

To help a little though I will call the Higher Self your Great Ocean of Divinity (or G.O.D.) and the Lower Self Everyones Godless Omen (or E.G.O.!) so get used to those two phrases on this blog!

I just love the imagine that comes to mind when you think about how never ending the ocean is so if it’s a great ocean it is truly HUGE! To have all that divinity waiting to be found…. what becomes possible? Greatness of course!

It’s my job to take you on a journey to discover yours but only if you want to!

When troubles come your way consider it an opportunity for great joy

The credit crunch is providing plenty of reasons for many of us to live in fear and if the media has it’s way it can be easy to think there really is no hope for the coming year and yet I see signs of things improving every day…. when….? When I changed the way I was looking at things.

I haven’t been affected by the credit crunch at all although I would love to blame it…! My finances have been affected by my inaction. I did nothing, I sold nothing so therefore I earned nothing. Not difficult to understand that equation really.

My path is exactly where I want it to be right now and I believe that. Our actions determine where we will be at every given moment and even inaction is a decision to do nothing and so therefore still action.

I kept asking the question WHY I am doing nothing but to no avail. My life right now has stopped and instead of fighting it with fear and worry I am now embracing it and looking forward to what’s next. I have decided to focus on joy and faith, which of course my new found faith in Jesus Christ has definitely helped me achieve.

I have come to the realization that all personal development is the bible but with God removed! Even the law of attraction that is so popular right now is focused on in the Gospel and includes praising and acknowledging God. So if you have had no luck attracting your desires you may want to consider adding that part and turning to Jesus Christ so that you may learn His lessons and begin to know Him.

Having said that because it has worked for me it really doesn’t mean it will work for you. I guess we all need to find our way back home and we all have definitely journeys to take. I would still encourage you to open your heart to seeing knowing God as one of those journeys.

Here is the full verse James Chapter 1 verses 2-8

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

If you are finding yourself unstable stop and ask God for wisdom. Not stuff (I tried that!) but wisdom, faith and the courage to endure. When I began to ask for that I began to feel a sense of joy return to me and the realization that where I am in my life is perfect for my spiritual growth. Anything I lose on this journey in terms of stuff (car, house, art etc) can be replaced. These are low value possessions.

The high value comes from being loved and loving others, loving and knowing God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, having a mind, body, soul, being able to dream, experiencing joy & gratitude, feeling the wind on your face. These are free and high value yet so easy to take for granted.

If you are experiencing troubles right now may God bless you with his wisdom and guidance so that you may see it through to the end. Remember it is there to support you in getting stronger. Pray and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. We will all come through this and when God blesses us with what we need it will be 50 times better than anything we could have imagined.

Really…. to be honest it seemed so cliche for me to turn to God at the time when I was unsure what to do or what direction to take. My life was crumbling and I turned to God. I actually thought I was quite weak doing so and that the best time to find God was when things are going well in life.

From my understanding of what I read it seems that when God wants your attention He’s going to strip you down to nothing until you turn to Him. And let’s face it with me He had no other option because in my pursuit for financial freedom I left Him behind and decided I could do it all by myself.  I stopped listening to every spiritual power I had around me so I guess I deserve to me where I am right now. Tough love. Great lesson.

God puts us in a position where we need to turn to him for help

2 Chronicles 19:12

O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you”

After looking up that passage I noticed I had two more underlined because we had covered them in bible study a few weeks ago.

So there you are desperate and having turned to God and what you find is when you ask for help He provides it.

2 Chronicles 19:15

“…….. thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude for the battle is not yours, but God’s”

Now, how many times in personal development have you heard the expression to let go and let God. Some people will tell you to let go and hand your problems over to a higher power. However you have heard it, it all amounts to the same thing. Its easier to stop trying to work things about yourself and to hand it over to God (or whatever name you perfer to use).

Even Earl Nightingale in his CD “The Strangest Secret” said we should focus on what we want and leave how we will get it to a higher source.

2 Chronicles 19:20

“…….. Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper”

I’m sure I don’t have to explain that meaning to you. My belief in God (or whatever you prefer to call that higher power) is what will bring me through this situation. The great news is that I never really had a relationship with God. My spiritual focus was on the angel realm and my spritual guide. But right now I am enjoying having a Father and getting to learn to know and love Him.

Just remind me when life is prosperous (because it will be very soon) not to turn away from Him again but to praise Him even more for all he has done.

There’s a lesson for you in all of this even if you are not religious or you don’t subscribe to the word God. Please don’t let that put you off so you miss it. Whatever your desires allow the universe to do it’s thing and help you. We don’t have to do this alone.

I have always been a little envious of people who could move and re-direct their energy. They could take anger and turn it into creativity, ending up with a wonderful painting or piece of pottery. I have always been able to change my “state” so if I was annoyed I could think of a time when I was at my happiest or laughed alot and that would change my emotion and make me feel happy. But that’s mental change. I hadn’t mastered energy changes….. until now.

Feel generally horny and frustrated (and knowing self satisfaction is out now!) I decided to play at re-directing it in another way. After all I know I have complete control of my mind and body so it would just have to do what I wanted….. Now I won’t lie. It took a while. Or at least it took a few days but I think I have managed to learn how to re-direct my energy but please don’t ask me how because I am still working it out myself!

What did I do with it? Well I turned it into energy that loved the world. Right now I am in love with everyone and anyone. Not sexual love but I am just in love. I love the trees, I love my house, I love the birds, I love all my friends on facebook. I just love everyone. Its a real feeling of love that arises whenever I think of anyone. So if you see me in the street feel free to ask for a hug because I’m loving the world right now

Of course I’d much rather just have a husband to use it all on but I guess I’m just going to have to wait for that one to happen!

In the meantime world …. here’s some more extra love for you…. you probably need it more than I do anyway right now !

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

For me this was about casting out the old me that operates according to conformity (although I never truly conform) and what’s happening in the world and instead to embrace a new way of thinking that focuses on righteousnes, holiness and the teachings according to Jesus.

My old mind wants to remind me that I have a long journey before I get there but my new mind. The “new man” I have put on tells me that its available in an instant. I’m not sure exactly what comes under the banner of “deceitful lusts” but I’m pretty sure it’s going to take some time to work through all of them that are in my head!!!

Letting go was one of my biggest issues and continues to be a huge life lesson for me and yet in the past few days I have come to accept that in order to grow I must detach and let go of things that are not working in my life right now.

As my life breaks down I believe that it will eventually be built stronger, faster and larger than I ever thought possible because this time I am building it with Him rather than without.

So I am happy to put on this new (wo)man that is the new me. Renewing the thoughts that go through my mind and it’s actually a great time because I have been listening to Earl Nightingales “The Strangest Secret. How To Live The Life You Desire” and he recommended renewal of the mind for 30 days straight.

2009 I’m ready for ya and I will be stronger and more powerful than I ever was.
