If I told you that

I help women tap into their inner power, connect with Source and manifest their intentions by providing articles, audios, and personal growth information products that will transform the way they think, feel and behave.

Does that make sense in only 30 seconds? I was told as a writer I need a 30 second elevator pitch. You know, the type of thing you would say if you suddenly found yourself in an elevator with Donald Trump and you want to tap him for some cash.

I’m not sure about the women bit because to be honest I have a number of “enlightened men” reading my blog too so maybe that’s Gods way of telling me to open up to everyone! But I’ve kept it for now until I receive some definite guidance on which way to go.

I think that describes my blog but now I also need to come up with one for the book.  Appreciate any comments, thoughts, opinions or suggestions on the one shown or on the one for the book!

What Is Greatness?

Below is an extract from my new free personal growth ecourse Discovering Greatness Experiencing Joy. It’s the third in the series of lessons designed to get you thinking about greatness, ready for greatness and working towards whatever greatness means to you.  If you enjoy reading this extract please sign up to receive each lesson.

What is greatness? I believe that this is a question we all need to answer for ourselves because greatness is something that is unique to us all.  So spend time considering what greatness is for you after I share what greatness is for me.

For me greatness is a feeling that comes when I connect to the universal energy known as God (or Source/Creator), when I stand in complete faith and believe that whatever I have asked for will be delivered. When I pray for others and spend time making people laugh.  My greatness isn’t one thing but a multitude of things that leave me feeling at peace, connected and always confident.

Fear and guilt can not live when my greatness is present.  Scarcity and doubt stand no chance when I am connected to how great I am.  I am vibrant and my natural energy (or aura) attracts people and things into my life like bees to a flower in bloom.

And the important thing to remember are the words ‘when I am connected’ because when I turn away from Source life just isn’t as joy filled as it usually is when greatness is present.

Worry becomes the ruler of my life, and fear about how things will turn out takes over.  With worry and fear around situations in my life alter and all of a sudden life stops working out as well as it once was. Projects fall apart, money stops coming in and worry and fear begin to increase, which in turn brings more of the same.

The good news is that no matter where your life is right now, no matter how bad things have become, at any moment you can choose to turn it around with one simple thought “I can choose to be happy despite my current circumstances”

It was that one thought that began to turn my life around after two years of disconnecting from source to ‘do it my way’ and making a complete mess of it.  I awoke one morning and a voice whispered ‘despite how bad you think things are you can still choose to be happy’  The simple act of choosing to be happy put me on the path of reconnecting back to everything I had turned away from.

I share that story to highlight that on your path to greatness there will be times when you turn away from what is working because you believe that you know best.  Or perhaps everything is working fine and you think you are okay to do it alone, but if you are truly one who has had God in your life then He will patiently wait until you are ready to turn back to Him – and that is usually after messing everything up and landing in trouble!

The gold in this situation (because there always is a lesson to learn or “gold” in every situation) is that I experienced what I was like without greatness and it did not feel good.  I had to experience who I do not want to be in order to know when I am experiencing who I do want to be, which is great.

What greatness means to you and why you would choose to begin the journey of discovering your greatness is something you and your Creator can answer together.  It’s not an easy path. Challenges will be thrown at you thick and fast as a way to heal your past and highlight how and why you limit yourself.  As you heal those past events and unblock your limiting behavior your life transforms.

Discovering greatness is a journey with no end because as soon as you feel you have found the greatness within you something will happen to show you there is still more greatness to find.  It is our key to continually grow and develop towards self realization.

What I can tell you is that it will change your way of being in the world. You will enjoy a continuous feeling of joy – not fleeting happiness – but true long lasting joy no matter what circumstances come your way. Your life as you know it will never be the same.

It’s funny how easy we think it is to resist our own destiny rather than go for it!

I typed that line in an email I was sending today

I was talking about my on again off again journey with stepping forward to have my book published and to begin spreading the word of how joyful life can become when we take the time to discover the greatness within and spend time developing a relationship with God (or Source).

I have been one of the most stubborn advocates of that by continually moving away to do work that I decided was best for me and not thinking about Gods plan for my life, but the thing is it never went away. From the moment Inspirational Guidance came to life in 2000 and then I found my souls purpose of discovering greatness my calling has been to share this with the world but I’ve resisted.

The resistance came from not knowing how to share it, what to do, not wanting to be out there talking about it. The insecure child in me doesn’t like being looked at and doesn’t want to do it…… and yet there is a greater part of me that keeps getting called back. This is in my blood and I truly believe it is what God has planned for me.

There are 24 hours left of 2008 and I made a promise to God in April 2008 to do whatever he asked of me and in the last few days he has revealed His plan to me about what I need to do next about getting my book out into the world, which has excited and scared me all at the same time.

Discovering Greatness Experiencing Joy is about my journey towards self realization that I will share with you. It’s about how ultimately destiny will always call you no matter how much you resist and most of all it will be about how easy we think it is to resist our own destiny rather than go for it!

Because the book is about my own journey towards self realization I have to go through it in order to write about it and from the plan that was revealed I realized that I already have experienced a great deal of it and I am on the final part ….. being able to bring into reality everything I desire by thought, faith and action.  This is the part I will focus on mastering on a consistent and regular basis. Manifesting what I intend not what life throws at me!

To help me with that I am re-listening to the Science of Getting Rich (which starts on this blog from January 1st 09) and I am also thinking about recording The Master Key by Charles Haanel which is a book in public domain (which means anyone can use it.) I am going to look at putting it on audio and breaking it down one chapter at a time. The Master Key is the book that inspired the movie The Secret and is all about the law of attraction but I prefer to call that the manifestation of our intentions.

Your intentions are powerful. What you intend to bring into your life through your thoughts will always appear so intend great things for yourself.

My desire for you as we leave 2008 and start 2009 is that you receive everything you desire so think positive and dream big.

I want to leave you with the words of Dr Wayne Dyer from his EXCELLENT book “The Power of Intention” and I leave them for anyone who has a desire they have yet to see fulfilled.

What Is Self Realization?

There are two terms I use on here that I wanted to explain so that you have a clear understanding of where I am coming from. They are self realization and personal growth.

What is Self Realization?

My definition is that self realization is the step that happens after personal growth. It’s the ultimate ending and yet the very beginning because we reach a very important time in our life when we not only understand intellectually about our very nature being spirit and our need to return to Source but we actually use it experientially - in other words we learn by LIVING it.

We allow God to guide us and spend more time in a state of constant love and joy.  It’s one thing to understand that God can provide us with everything we desire (intellect) it’s a completely different thing to actual use that understanding so that everything you desire actually SHOWS UP in your life (experiential)

I hit the moment of self realization when I realized that I was spending my life searching for something and I was actually searching for myself. Of course I went on to deny it for a few more years because I’m stubborn like that and when I re-connected I did so powerfully, this time including an intimate relationship with God. My experience turned to pure joy.

What Is Personal Growth?

Personal Growth is the step before self realization when we are learning about who we are.

How our inner world plays a part in shaping our outer world.

Our purpose for being here.

The games we play that keep us stuck.

Our limiting beliefs and the way we control others.

Our thoughts and how they impact our life and experience.

It’s about self improvement. Improvement of our own self. Many times doing this alone (without God)

Its a process of identifying and healing what isn’t working so that we can continually grow and transform our current way of thinking, feeling and behaving to something more empowering.

It’s about finding our untapped talents and bringing them forth into our lives so that we can enjoy a more creative, spiritual and fulfilled life.

When we don’t grow or improve on who we are it’s easy to stay stuck, unhappy and unfulfilled. Many people die that way.

Years of personal growth helps you to connect to your inner self and many people then begin a spiritual journey. It’s the spiritual journey that leads you onto an understanding of the awesome power of the universe (or formless substance as Wallace D Wattles from the Science of Getting Rich likes to call it) which naturally leads on to self realization.

Remember this is my own personal definition of what self realization and personal growth is and I write from this perspective. There is no one way or right way to explain what is a very personal experience. Personal development is about the development of a person and we are all very different so it will mean different things for different people.

When I started my spiritual journey I read something very powerful from Iylana Vanzant which was “Find Your Own Interpretation of The TRUTH”

I invite you to do the same. Don’t take on everything I say and believe it. Use what feels right for you and discard what doesn’t. This is your personal journey of self discovery and no one can tell you how that should turn out.

In all of this remember. Our journey is not a straight path. We can slip off our path and have to correct ourselves to get back on it.

I fell off my path in a major way in 2006 until April 2008 when God whispered in my ear “You don’t think that what you are doing now is really what you are supposed to be doing do you?” - at that time I was on a quest to make money on the web.

I had forgotten myself spiritually and went in the pursuit of money. I had left Inspirational Guidance behind and it’s purpose of empowering women to find passion and purpose. I stopped connecting with Source and lived in my head where I planned mentality what I wanted to do. My plans didn’t work out and it put me in the worst position of my life and yet the best because (to quote Willie Jolley) I realized that this set back was a setup for a comeback!

God reminded me that he had a plan for me and now here I am doing His work.

My name is Diane Corriette and for the last 42 years I have been on a journey of self realization that has resulted in continuous personal and spiritual growth. I soon realized that everything that has happened to me is for a reason. It was to help me discover my greatness. Maybe it’s your time to do the same.

We all have greatness within us and my destiny is fulfilled when I help you to discover your greatness. I have no interest in where your life is right now.  The only thing I want to know is are you ready to do the work that it is going to take to empower yourself?

An Introduction To Your Great Ocean of Divinity

Every author has their own way of describing the two characters that shape you who are. Traditional and most popular are the two phrases Higher Self and Lower Self. The higher self is used to describe the highest potential we can all reach (also a gentle name for saying God without saying God!) Your lower self is described as the part of you that worries, believes in lack, keeps you stuck, makes you angry etc etc

Our journey is to allow our life to be so heavily influenced by our higher self that we live out our full potential but the reality is that the majority of us live listening to the voice of our lower self.

I don’t believe we need to get rid of our lower self because that would be to forget who we are and would not allow us to become whole and complete. Instead we have to learn how to work with, worth through, move past that lower self and into our higher self way of thinking to experience true masterary.

One of my biggest lower self activities that I take part in is to worry and doubt. It’s easy for me to drag myself into worry and doubt until the people around me remind me of what I am doing and I move myself into self-belief and trust/faith (which is why it is so very important to have a circle of friends that empower you.)  Its never my aim to get rid of anything but to observe it, become aware of it and work through it.

I am still “painfully shy” - it’s a childhood thing. I live life inside of myself and even when I am enjoying myself it will happen internally and you will never know.  I had to become aware of that and choose firstly to drop the shy label and talk to people and secondly to remember to share what’s going on inside with people around me.  Triggers for me are when people say “you’re quiet are you alright?” or if I am with someone who doesn’t believe I am having a good time (which happens alot with men I just meet!!!) Once they understand that me going internal means I am actually having ALOT of fun they don’t worry so much

To meet me now you would never believe that I am “painfully shy” because that part of me just isn’t that alive anymore. I learnt how to talk even when I felt shy. I learnt how to raise my voice to hold a conversation and then to speak to a room full of people even when i was shaking like a leaf….

I learnt to work around, work with and work through my shyness so that I could end up where I am today.  I refused to let my lower self keep me in a position of being scared of people and I did something about it. Are you ready to do something about it?

I often refer to myself as insecure with moments of brilliance for that very reason.

Once you begin to grow your awareness of what your lower self does and says to keep you stuck you will find your life transforming into what you want it to become.  If you think you are ugly and you change that conversation you will see the beauty that exists within you and also in your features/face.  If you think you are hopeless and your lower self keeps you in that conversation you will soon be able to see just how amazing you are as you achieve things, get things done and work through whatever keeps you limited.

The biggest gift I gave myself was to give up calling this divine part of myself my Higher Self and begin to recognize it as God.  This divine energy that surrounds us like the air we breath is available for us at all times all we have to do is choose it. Access to God is available by believing in His son Jesus Christ.  But hey… if that’s all a little heavy for you don’t worry. Continue with Higher Self because remember that’s my journey and not yours.

To help a little though I will call the Higher Self your Great Ocean of Divinity (or G.O.D.) and the Lower Self Everyones Godless Omen (or E.G.O.!) so get used to those two phrases on this blog!

I just love the imagine that comes to mind when you think about how never ending the ocean is so if it’s a great ocean it is truly HUGE! To have all that divinity waiting to be found…. what becomes possible? Greatness of course!

It’s my job to take you on a journey to discover yours but only if you want to!

Have you prostituted your being?

In Anthony De Mello’s book “The Way To Love” he talks alot about our attachment to people and things.  In particular he mentions our need to be loved by another as if we would die if they did not exist.

When we give up who we are to please another person we prostitute our being. We are no longer ourselves but instead begin to conform to what they want/expect of us. Even when we think we know what it is another person wants there are no guarantees that we will get it right so we live in constant fear of making a mistake.

That is no way to live and it is certainly no way to love.  I am certainly no expert on love but the one thing I have learnt from studying Mr De Mello is the fact that our attachments are the root cause of our unhappiness and at any moment we can detachment from them all and enjoy true and long lasting happiness.

Detachment doesn’t mean you give a person or thing up. You don’t have to detach from your car by selling it and giving it up because that just produces the pain of not having and even more unhappiness. But it is about recognizing that without the car you can remain happy. Without the big house you are still a unique and wonderful human being.

Detaching who you are from what you own is an important part of personal growth.  Your greatest error will be to believe that who you are is based upon what you own and what you have because if you ever have to give them up then you will lose confidence in yourself and who you are.  If you earn 30,000 a month and drive a sports car then suddenly you lose your job, after a few months can’t keep up mortgage payments on your exclusive town house and lose that, the car goes next and you are left unemployed without the trappings does that make you any less important than you were when you had them?  The answer of course is no it does not.

It is an unstable state of illusion if you place all your confidence into the status that you believe a car or house will give you because it’s all relative to the situation. What does that mean…????

Well imagine you live in a neighborhood where everyone drives cars worth £7,000 (dollars, rupees, yen… whatever your currency just include it rather than get off track here!) and you buy yourself a wonderful BMW and your car is worth £24,000. Instantly you believe that your status is above everyone and they believe that too. They automatically believe you must have more money - even if you did buy the car on HP!

You drive around in your neighborhood and everyone looks at your car with envy. The guys all want to talk to you because they want the opportunity to get into and be seen in your car….. you’re the top of the pack!

Today you decide to visit a friend. You drive to your friends house and in her neighborhood everyone drives a car to the value of £45,000 and over. Jags, convertible Audi, Porche, Mercedes….. they don’t even look at you as you drive up because you’re considered a “poor cousin” compared to what they drive.

Now suddenly in this neighborhood your status means nothing… where as just 10 minutes before in your own neighborhood you felt like the top of the pack you are suddenly reduced to nothing worth looking at when you visit your friend.

This is why placing your status in “things” is so shallow and a complete waste of time…. because there will be times when it will make you feel great and other times when it won’t!  It will never help fill the void for what you are truly looking for. It provides temporary relief from feeling like nothing but at any moment if you lost your precious thing you will drop right back down again. Plus you have to work hard to keep it, maintain it and replace it with something better.  You will worry about people stealing, breaking and ruining it and this worry will cause ill health.

How much easier is it to focus on building our inner strength. In knowing that within us is something so strong (that I will introduce as your great ocean of divinity…. or G.O.D.!)

This ever increasing, always available, uplifting and empowering energy within you is your own greatness and when you learn to tap into it nothing and no one can stop you from feeling amazing 100% of  the time. At different times of our lives  we will jump in and out of this ocean depending on our needs but we will always know that at any moment we can return and recharge because it will always be there with unconditional love waiting for us.

Now isn’t that so much better than plain ole stuff!!!

A lesson looking far for what’s near

Last week i wanted to transfer a number of photos from my digital camera to my laptop. The USB connector I use to do that is always in the same drawer in our dining table so I went looking for it and it wasn’t there.

I asked my daughter if she had used it and she said she hadn’t so I began a day of searching for this one small connector! We had just had our house decorated and a number of books and other stuff had been moved about so I was convinced that it had been placed somewhere and it wouldn’t take long to find.

I cleared out two cupboards, got rid of a lot of rubbish, hunted high and low before deciding that it was lost and I should just buy another. That whole process took a day!

The next day my daughter had a few photos she wanted to upload to her laptop. Picked up my camera in it’s case, opened up the very small pocket on the front and took out the USB connector!  It was there all the time.

What’s the lesson?

Well the first one is a little like the book Acres of Diamonds. You can go searching all over for something and what you are looking for is right there in your own backyard.

Both this lesson and my previous lesson about my earring focused on teaching me that the thing I am searching for is right there in front of my face if I only stop looking outside and around! Now I just need to figure out what I am frantically searching for….. but don’t worry because God has it all in hand and when it’s time to reveal it He will, so actually what’s even better is I DON’T have to figure out what I am searching for.  All I have to do is stop long enough to allow God time to reveal it to me!

You can also contribute to your personal growth by learning lessons about the events that take place in your life if you take the time to write them down in a journal or diary.  What makes journalling powerful is that you get to record everything that happens and the possible lessons behind them and eventually you notice a pattern.

That pattern is there to help you grow and develop if you are ready to face it and change it.  Just don’t be too hard on yourself or beat yourself up because that doesn’t help. Recognise the pattern and see what you want to do about breaking it if it is negative.

Of course I have a blog and share all my lessons with the world…. there is that option too!
